End of Life for the AVTECH Room Alert 32W
AVTECH Software have announced the retirement of the Room Alert 32W zigbee based wireless environmental monitor product. With the increasing quality and reliability of Wi-Fi based networks, a zigbee based product is not required anymore.
Since its release in 2011, the Room Alert 32W has helped countless organizations across the world proactively monitor and protect their IT environments, data centers, facilities, and more. The Room Alert 32W was originally introduced as an upgrade to the Room Alert 26W, which was first offered in 2006.
The Room Alert 26W was introduced at a time when Wi-Fi services were still spotty and often unreliable in a commercial environment. By utilizing the ZigBee wireless standard, the Room Alert 26W and later Room Alert 32W offered extended wireless monitoring in many locations that would not have been accessible through then-available Wi-Fi service.
Over the past few years, Wi-Fi hardware and technology has advanced to the point where utilizing Wi-Fi in critical facilities has become reliable and commonplace. As a result, many Room Alert users are now opting to use the Room Alert 32E in combination with the Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi in order to extend their sensor and coverage range to hard to reach areas.
Due to the growth of the Room Alert 32E + Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi combination, and the strength of newer Wi-Fi networks and technology, the Zigbee technology inside doesn't the Room Alert 32W doesn't make a good fit for our customers there AVTECH have made the decision to retire the Room Alert 32W model effective immediately.
Just because the Room Alert 32W is now discontinued does not mean that support will end. Expect to see firmware updates for the Room Alert 32W for some time yet.
Limited Stock Availability
There are a limited number of Room Alert 32W monitors in stock. If you require a Room Alert 32W monitor, please contact a Product Specialist as soon as possible.
Along with the retirement of the Room Alert 32W, the WiSH and WiSPR wireless sensor hubs are also being retired. Existing Room Alert 32W users who wish to expand their coverage should investigate purchasing the Room Alert 3 Wi-Fi.
