Guide to AVTECH Flood Sensors

An explanation your various options for monitoring flood risks in your server room using the AVTECH Room Alert range of environment monitors.

Flood Sensor Options

There are two types of flood sensor available for the Room Alert range of monitors.

Spot Flood Sensor

The spot flood sensor is able to detect water ingress in a single location. It is typically used either with a sink or a drip tray that concentrates water into a single central tray section where the spot flood sensor is located.

Spot sensors are very good at locating water in a single location but they are not very useful if you wish to detect water over a much larger area. That is where the rope flood sensor comes into its own.

The Spot Flood Sensor is available with a cable length of 7.5m only. The length of the cable is the distance you can place the water sensitive unit away from your Room Alert.

Rope Flood Sensor

The rope sensor is able to detect water ingress over a wide area by using a long water sensitive cable. The cable can be used to cover a wide area typically underneath a server room raised floor or inside the celiing space above a server room.

The Spot Flood Sensor is available with a cable length of 2.4m and 7.5m only. The length of the cable is the distance you can place the water sensitive unit away from your Room Alert.
