How to specify a log file for your Nmap data

Logging the Output

Nmap allows you to scan at preset intervals and to log the output in various formats.

Step 1 Click the Files tab.

Step 2 Click the Output box.

Step 3 Browse for a path for the file.

Step 4 Name the file.

Step 5 Click a radio button to specify the file type.

Output File Formats

Various formats are supported.

Normal Human readable format.

XML Outputs in XML format. The preferred format for maximum flexibility and portability.

Grep A format that allows searches.

All Outputs in all the above formats.

Append After each new scan appends the data rather than overwriting the existing file.
