Using the Sensatronics TempTrax E4 with Intellipool Network Monitor
This document explains how to use the Intellipool Network Manager (INM) software to monitor one or more Sensatronics IT Temperature Monitors.
INM is a very well featured product that allows you to monitor a number of network attached devices. This document describes setting up a very basic set of options for the IT Temperature Sensor. It does not explain how to set up and use the advanced alerting features of INM.
Overview
Install Intellipool Network Monitor (INM)
Double click on the INM icon to start the program
To begin graphing the output from the IT Temperature Monitors perform the following steps:
- Set up the Network
- Set up an Object
- Set up an Agent
- Set up Agent Properties
- View the IT Temperature Monitor
Set up the Network
Set up a new Network (or add the sensor to an existing network)
Click on Networks, New Network
Enter the details for the New Network
The following screen shows a worked example
Click Save
Set up Objects
INM is licensed by the number of Objects monitored. An Object is any network attached device that you want to manage.
As a minimum you need to:
Name the Object
Specify an IP address (or name)
Add the Object to a named Network
Additional options allow you to add a Description of the Object, specify actions to perform on entering or leaving an Alarm condition, use the Object as a Template and so on.
Click Save
Set up an Agent
Agents perform some kind of monitoring task for a network attached device. INM features an extensive range of agents to choose from. In this example we are interested only in the Temptrax agent, but it is possible to click multiple agents depending on what is supported on the device.
Click on Objects, Object List
Click on the Object name (Sensatronics Temperature Sensor in our example)
Click on Agent List, Add Agent
Check the Temptrax box
Click OK
Set up Agent Properties
Agent properties allows you to specify the test interval and many other characteristics of the agent. Properties are separated into Generic and Advanced categories.
Generic Properties
These properties include:
The Agent Name
The Agent Type
The Test Interval
Default is 60 seconds.
Advanced Properties
Temptrax Model
Model E is the network attached version, Model F is the serial port version.
Temperature Scale
Options for Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin.
Port
Default is 80
Probe Properties
One per port on the Sensor.
Maximum and Minimum temperature range.
Optionally specify a Location for the probe.
Click Enable on each probe that you want to monitor.
Temptrax sensors are available in 4 8 and 16 probe versions. Model F is a serial port version and has a single probe capability only.
Important: Clicking Enable does NOT define which graphs appear. It merely determines which probes are being monitored. To select which graphs to view see Statistics below.
Statistics
These options determine what you want to see and store. Tick the relevant boxes to display graphs and/or store the data.
Experiment with these settings to determine exactly what you want to view.
Click Save
Viewing the Temperature Sensor
Click on the Agent name in the Agent list.
The Agent reports back at the preset interval. After a time a graph such as that below will appear
