Disable OPENXTRA Commander System Tray Icon
We have been asked how the OPENXTRA Commander System Tray icon can be disabled. Whilst we feel that the Commander adds value to our packages, we are sensitive to the fact that some may not share that point of view.
It is our intention to make the OPENXTRA Commander less intrusive for those who want it that way. But, until we do that, this is how you can disable the OPENXTRA Commander from starting up when you login or start your computer.
- Go to the start menu, select Run...
- Type ‘regedit’ and press return.
- When the regedit window comes up, go to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE:SOFTWARE:Microsoft:Windows:CurrentVersion:Run. (This, for those unfamiliar with regedit, means that you need to find the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE entry at the top of the list on the left, followed by the SOFTWARE key under it and so on)
- Once you are there you should see a list of values in the right hand pain
- One of them should be ‘OPENXTRAUpdateAgent’
- Select ‘OPENXTRAUpdateAgent’ and press the delete key or right click on the value and choose Delete
- You’ll then be asked to confirm the deletion, double check that you’e selected the correct item and click ‘Yes’ if you have
- Your changes will not come into effect until you next reboot your machine
- In order to disable it immediately, right click on the icon in the System Tray and click ‘Exit’ in the popup menu
