Intellipool upgrade path

As some of you may have heard Intellipool was recently purchased by Kaseya. Intellipool Network Monitor, the primary product produced by Intellipool, is now called Kaseya Network Monitor. At this time we don't know precisely whether OPENXTRA will still be able to sell Kaseya Network Monitor, nor what will happen to existing customers of Intellipool Network Monitor.

Customers with very small licences, many have licenses allowing only 2 agents, are likely to be forced to upgrade to much larger licenses (we've heard the minimum will be 100 agents though that hasn't been confirmed yet) when their support contract expires. Whilst this may well suit some, we doubt whether the vast majority of customers would find the increase in cost worthwhile.

Many of the smallest license holders solely use Intellipool Network Monitor to manage their Sensatronics environment monitors. It is unlikely that any but the very largest of customers using Intellipool Network Monitor in that way would find the upgrade economical. Consequently, we are in the process of creating Xsensior Pro software that will allow you to continue using your existing investment in Sensatronics sensors. We hope this will give you an easy and reasonably priced migration path.

The choices are:

  1. Pay for a much bigger license of Kaseya Network Monitor; or
  2. Continue to use Intellipool Network Monitor but allow your upgrade insurance and support contract to expire; or
  3. Convert to Xsensior Pro.

Plainly, from a convenience point of view, you're bound to prefer option 1. But, unfortunately, that choice may well be beyond the means of many customers.

Option 2 is perfectly legal as all Intellipool licenses are perpetual i.e. you can continue to use the software forever. Of course, you won't get any support and neither will you be eligible for future software upgrades.

Option 3 is a much more reasonably priced option, with the bonus that your existing sensors can continue to serve you.

We will do our best to keep you informed as things become more clear. If you'd like to have a chat about the way forward, please get in touch with Denis Laverty.

PS if you'd like to take part in the Xsensior Pro Beta program, please get in touch with Denis. We are looking to start the Pro Beta program early in the New Year.
