Rack- Mounted Environment Monitor Sets New Standards in Elegant Simplicity

Leeds UK 23^rd October 2007: OPENXTRA today announce the release of Sensatronics Senturion rack-mounted Environment monitor to the European market. Aesthetic and pioneering design leads Senturion to set new standards in accuracy, display and simplicity of use to take the thinking out of datacentre environment monitoring.

The reliance of businesses on network application and hardware performance, together with increasing ‘green’ concerns means datacentre managers and IT personnel are increasingly aware how crucial it is to protect IT infrastructure. Not only should machines function in optimum conditions but they need to be protected from physical threat such as excessive heat, humidity or flooding. Alerting to changes in the environment before impact to the network means being able to take action to avoid network malfunction.

Simplicity of Use

Senturion is an out-of-the-box complete solution. On-board temperature, humidity, light sensors and management software means that the user installs it in the rack, updates a few settings and it’s ready to monitor. Up to 8 additional probes can be accommodated via RJ12 connections in the front of the monitor for placement anywhere up to 300m away, and built-in cable management design makes running external probes neat and tidy.

Instant Display

An innovative integrated front panel 5cm colour LCD tells users at a glance the status of the environment without logging into the web interface. The unit’s front panel lighting changes from blue to red to alert to an issue, in addition to a local auditory alert that sounds until corrective action has been taken.

Accuracy and Alerting

Inventive design means Senturion is the first monitoring system to place sensors in an integrated sensor wing so that data is absolutely accurate and not contaminated by conditions of the monitor itself. Comprehensive alert options mean that in addition to visual and auditory alerts, email and SMS alerts (using an SMS modem) can be sent to groups or scheduled through the week.
