Free Guide to Network Cabling Now Available

Leeds, UK October 1st 2008

OPENXTRA leading provider of network cabling and monitoring tools and testers is pleased to announce that a Guide to Data Cabling is now available as a download free from www.openxtra.co.uk.

The Guide is designed as a gentle introduction to network cabling, faults and testing for electricians and others who come across data cabling from time to time or would like to make a move into this field.

Feedback from delegates attending a recent ELEX show, demonstrated widely varied attitudes; many electricians want to avoid data cabling like the proverbial plague but a sizeable proportion realise that with convergence a reality data cabling installation and testing is a field in which they quickly need to up-skill.

With this in mind OPENXTRA CTO, Jack Hughes wrote the 17 page guide to take some of the fear out of network cabling. He explains the structure of network cables, patch panels, switches and routers, why network cabling is different and looks at some of the common faults and their causes.

The Guide is available for download from www.openxtra.co.uk
