Site upgrade timetable
Just a quick timetable for the website upgrade.
Tomorrow at around 5pm the website will be unavailable for around two hours. Friday afternoon is usually dead quiet. IT people have far better things to do on Friday afternoon than buy network management kit I am pleased to report.
Not content with ripping out one e-commerce system, we are in fact ripping out two. When we upgraded the last time we didn’t remove completely all signs of the old system. This time we are getting rid of all of the legacy code. This will mean that the site will be easier for us to manage, but it should load faster too.
We’ve noticed during our testing that the new system does seem to be faster. So, hopefully, you’ll find the site more responsive next week.
The new site is the sixth full version of this site, that is more than one complete overhaul per year. We have finally, after four years and six attempts, built a platform that we can build on. It is a great milestone for us, and I think you’re going to like where we are going with the site.
One of the changes on the new site is the increased exposure of this here blog…hello and welcome to all new visitors! Please let us know what you think. ![]()
