@Jeremy – I think I need to split out the appliance section out into virtual and hardware appliance because I meant hardware appliance. It would be handy to have a breakdown of both I guess. Virtual appliances give a great way to try out software with zero risk of any damage to an existing set up. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey, Jack. Good article, I wanted to mention that both Hyperic HQ open source and HQ enteprise version have a VMWare appliance. That should earn us green marks across the board.

@John – I just knew this would happen… Once I’m a bit further into the process I will begin to add more projects to the comparison. At the moment, doing the necessary research on four projects is taking quite a long time. More projects that I am less familiar with would only extend the process even further. Expect the next tranche sometime next week. I promise to get into the interesting stuff then.
