Off Topic: Chin up

I personally think the doom & gloom is being overplayed at the moment, every bit as much as the euphoria overshot during the boom years.

Things certainly are going to be different for a while, but I don’t think we’re all going to go back to depression era levels of unemployment and the social deprevation associated with it.

Whilst the various world wide responses to the crisis haven’t been great, they’ve been a whole lot better than the response during the great depression.

One thing is for sure, people with deep pockets and an eye for the longer term, are going to make a killing.

If only I had those deep pockets. But I totally agree. Within a year to eighteen months my guess is we’ll have hit the bottom. Stocks and property will be an absolute steal.

I do feel really sorry for people who are just coming up to retirement though. Their pension funds have just lost 11 years of growth in what – 6 months? Ouch.

This period however, will prove to be exceptional for businesses who recognise the value to be gained from switching/migrating to Free Software.

@Allan – somehow I thought you’d see the banking problem through the lense of open source… :) Maybe the banks have been nationalised because they didn’t use enough open source software! Think of all the money they would have had instead of giving it to the proprietary software vendors that would then have been able to contribute to their capital ratios. ;)

lol

I did actually surround that last comment with some tags but your comment engine swallowed them.

Maybe <shameless plug> might work?
