No excuses now…you can talk Sensatronics too!

Some of you may have noticed that we have been busy creating the Sensatronics Software Development Kit (SDK). So, what is the Sensatronics SDK and why have we created it?

Well, we figured that writing software to talk to the Sensatronics sensors was rather repetitive, especially when you need to write a number of different tools. So, we thought, well why don’t we create a software development kit and place all of the code in there. Then, all we need to do is have all of the different pieces of software talk to that.

Then we thought. Well, if we have this code sitting around why not open it up so that everybody else can use it too. We couldn’t for the life of us come up with a reason not to, so that’s exactly what we’ve done.

When I say SDK it sounds like it is a single entity. In reality it is made up of 2 pieces. One COM based and another Java based. We also have a pure .NET variant cooking too, though it is not completed yet. The idea is that each element will have the same functionality, though I expect that short delays will happen as the various elements are updated.

I am very pleased with how easy it is now to retrieve the readings from the Sensatronics monitors. Literally, a couple of lines of code and you can read the values.

Please give the SDK a go and let us know what you think.
