Giffy: Visio in the cloud

If you think of Giffy as Visio delivered as a web based app you’d be about right, just like Google Docs. Google, if you’ve got a spare few million bucks (and we all know you do), will you just buy Giffy? And then integrate it into Google Docs. This stuff is way too good to waste behind a paid-for monetisation strategy.

Jack Hughes's wry observations of the tech industry from the bottom looking up.
“This stuff is way too good to waste behind a paid-for monetisation strategy”
Like, it’s so good you don’t want to buy it?
Quote | Posted October 7, 2008, 1:53 PM@Matt – err, that’s not quite what I meant
Me paying for online apps seems about as likely as a teenager paying for music. Google have introduced a load of great online applications and I don’t have to pay a penny for them. Giffy would sit next to google’s other apps very well.
Quote | Posted October 7, 2008, 2:04 PM@Matt – I don’t think I explained that very well…what I meant was that an awful lot of people will be put off by the fact that it is currently a paid-for service so Giffy won’t get the use or attention that I think it deserves.

I was just trying to give you a hard time. And yes, Google could do this, and with their mad ajax skills, it would be another killer app, but I’m afraid that most people probably wouldn’t know what to do with it.
